Context
An opportunity to achieve goals
GoalWise is a mobile app designed to help individuals manage household expenses independently while also supporting both group and individual financial goals. The app allows users to track personal spending and manage budgets for individual or shared goals in a streamlined, user-friendly way.
Problems
No money, no fun.
Not having enough money
Users don’t have extra money to spend on activities or vacations with their loved ones.
Not knowing what they are spending their money on
Users can’t tell where they are spending their money, so they don't know where they can spend less to save for these goals.
Not being organized
Users don't have an organized way to put their incomes and outcomes.
Challenge
The challenge was to create a mobile app that provides friends, family groups, or individuals an easier way to manage household expenses, track personal spending, and save collectively or individually toward a goal. The app aims to simplify budgeting by allowing users to monitor their own expenses, contribute to joint savings, and streamline the process of achieving financial targets.

Users need a more intuitive way to access this option.
Difficulty adding money to any category
Users need better cues for what steps are required to add money to a category.
Confusion with the fact that the expenses had an image associated and the incomes did not
The app needs to be more consistent.
High Fidelity Prototype
Ensuring organization and coherence by consistently applying structured principles and strategies.
Intentionally crafted to be both simple and universally accessible.

Project Takeaways
Iterative Design
I learned the importance of testing early. A mid-project usability test revealed that users struggled with the option to add money to the goal process.
Importance of Visual Hierarchy
Users initially struggled to figure out how to add a category. By applying visual hierarchy principles—contrasting colors and larger buttons — I made it prominent, significantly improving accessibility.
Learning New Tools
I learned Figma to collaborate effectively with a team, leveraging its tools to create shared files, reusable components, and interactive prototypes, which enabled iterative feedback loops and resulted in a polished, user-friendly app.
